John Webb

St. Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver

John Webb is Director of Interventional Cardiology at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada, the McLeod professor of heart valve intervention at the University of British Columbia, and medical director of the Transcatheter Valve Program for the government of British Columbia. As director of the Centre for Heart Valve Innovation in Vancouver he leads a group credited with many transcatheter firsts; including the development of successful transarterial and transapical aortic valve implantation (TAVI), mitral valve implantation (TMVI), valve implantation for failed surgical valves, and various mitral and tricuspid repair procedures with over 400 publications and experience teaching valve procedures in over 25 countries.

Recent awards include the Killam Research Prize in Science from the University of BC, the Innovation and Achievement Award from Lifesciences BC, honorary doctorate from Simon Fraser University, and the Thomson Reuters list of the top 1% of researchers most cited in their field.
